Invitation to Tender: Communications Support

We are looking for a communications specialist to support the HARP team and partners to share learning from the programme between now and the end of the programme  in June 2022.


HARP - Health, Arts, Research, People - is an innovation and research partnership between Arts Council of Wales, Nesta and Cardiff University’s ‘Y Lab’ to explore how we can generate, grow and learn about impactful creative innovations that support the health and wellbeing of the people of Wales.

HARP is a learning programme, combining grant funding, network building, coaching and research with 13 teams of arts and health innovators. We are doing this with support from Nesta’s People Powered Results team, the Wales Arts, Health and Wellbeing Network and the Welsh NHS Confederation.


We are looking for a communications specialist to support the HARP team and partners to share learning from the programme between now and the end of the programme (June 2022).  

This person will work alongside us 2-3 days per week for six months, synthesising the wealth of learning, evidence and findings we are seeing and producing engaging, creative content to share with different audiences: partners, teams, policy, health leaders and networks. They will manage proactive comms for HARP ‘on the ground’, identifying speaking opportunities and conferences for HARP team, working with relevant publications and newsletters, being aware of key policy and health agendas and creating media releases to make the most of all those opportunities.

This project would suit someone with strong research and analysis skills, a great writing style and an interest in arts and/or health innovation. The ability to speak and write in Welsh is also highly desirable.

Deliverables (indicative, to be co-created with the person when they join)

  1. 2-3 Policy Recommendations reports (and supporting assets) against the HARP Learning Agenda topics, developed with partners
  2. Data synthesis and visualisation of HARP Learning - commissioning or creating accessible, engaging and relevant content (reports, social media content, videos, digital stories, and so on) for more general external audiences
  3. Partner engagement - feed content into partner websites, newsletters, events, reports and those of wider networks (Culture, Health & Wellbeing Alliance, National Centre for Creative Health, UK funders, UK health networks).
  4. 3 x media releases about HARP projects and stories
  5. Weekly HARP tweets featuring engaging content from the 13 HARP projects
  6. Manage, review and edit monthly blogs from HARP team members
  7. Manage, review and edit monthly spotlights from the HARP projects

Timescale and budget

We anticipate that this contract will be awarded on a day rate basis for 2-3 days per week from Dec 2021 to May 2022 (six months).

The work will mostly be remote (online), so it’s not necessary to be based in Wales, however knowledge of the Welsh health, arts and policy landscapes are highly desirable.
