InFuSe (which stands for Innovative Future Services) is a £5.6 million programme to support local authorities in the Cardiff Capital Region to access new skills, methods and tools that improve their capacity and capability to innovate.
The programme is a partnership lead by Monmouthshire County Council with Cardiff University and Y Lab and funded by Wales European Funding Office (WEFO) Priority 5 Institutional Capacity European Social Fund with matched funding from the ten local authorities and the Cardiff Capital Region.
Rooted in real-life challenges, this three-year programme will identify two thematic areas of high importance to the Cardiff Capital Region, for example looking at problems and opportunities linked to Decarbonisation or Community Cohesion/Well-Being.
The programme will be delivered through three 'Labs' that have specific workstreams:
- The Adaption Lab - supporting officers to design and deliver experiments that test potentially scalable solutions to regionwide problems.
- The Procurement Lab – supporting officers to learn, develop and test new processes and methods for procuring innovative products and services that produce better outcomes for people who use and deliver services against the two thematic areas.
- The Data Lab – supporting officers to better collect, manage, analyse, understand and make more effective use of data in decision making.
Work will begin in early 2021 and the programme ends in 2023.
